Case Study
Software training with storytelling

Insight into the successful collaboration with the Berlin Senate Department

Client description

The Senate Department for Labour, Social Affairs, Equality, Integration, Diversity and Anti-Discrimination (SenASGIVA) is one of the specialised departments of the Berlin Senate. As such, it is responsible, among other things, for providing training opportunities for its employees. This also includes training in IT software and specialist procedures required by the staff.

Project description

To provide comprehensive and target-group-oriented training on the software, a series of e-learnings are being developed, covering different thematic focuses. The aim is to offer insight into the software while simultaneously integrating realistic case studies.

Challenges within the project

A storytelling approach was applied methodically and didactically for the case studies. The background stories of the protagonists were chosen to realistically represent applicants in the daily work of the employees. A comic style against real-life backgrounds was used for the presentation.

Project implementation

The e-learnings often need to be updated (some annually). This is partly due to the reference values that change every year. Therefore, both in the design and implementation, care was taken to keep the revision effort manageable.

A look into the training –
interactive and immersive

The perspective of the learners reflects their area of responsibility as caseworkers in social and citizens’ offices.

Through click interactions, learners can independently work through the content.

Various protagonists bring the case studies to life.

In programmed input forms from the software, learners can directly apply their acquired knowledge in practice.
